The first trailer for Creed, technically the seventh Rocky film, has landed its first blow, with Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four) taking centre stage. Jordan plays the son of Balboa’s arch nemesis-turned-friend Apollo Creed, who was played by Carl Weathers in the first four Rocky films. It's an intriguing trailer, underplaying the role of Sylvester Stallone and putting plenty of focus on its young star.
Balboa will take on the Burgess Meredith role, mentoring Creed and bringing the saga full-circle. There is a whiff of familiarity about it, but who doesn't want that? From the patriotic trunks to the famous line given new life at the end of the trailer. If all goes well, Creed will be the first film in a new series of films, with Ryan Coogler taking the reigns on the first instalment since 2006. Creed dances its way to theatres on November 25, 2015.
