COMING SOON: LEATHERFACE

Do you ever get curious about what your favourite film directors are up to now? Sometimes you'll be watching a movie and it seems like forever since you last saw something new, so you check it out on IMDB and discover to your delight that they haven't died from some kind of freak chainsaw accident, and that they are in fact alive and kicking and still making movies.

Well that happened to us the other day after watching a horror triple-bill of Livid, Among The Living and Inside. It was a restless night. Alexandre Bustillo and Julian Maury haven't exactly been out of the picture, Among The Living was released in 2014, but we have pretty much loved all of their feature length movies so it would be rude not to keep track of their output. The ABCs of Death 2 segment, "X is for Xylophone", was pretty messed up too.

So what's up next for them, I here you ask? Well it turns out they will be bringing a true icon of horror cinema back to life this year. I'm sure you've guessed it by now but Leatherface is a prequel movie about teenage Leatherface (well, duh) who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge.

The film stars Lili Taylor (Angela Betis was originally signed on to the film before dropping out due to scheduling conflicts), Stephen Dorff, Nicole Andrews (whose previous film credt was 'sexy nurse') and Sam Strike (Eastenders). No trailer yet but we're hoping this prequel shares more in common with the original movie in the series than the majority of sequels that followed. The two directors at the helm certainly give us hope.
