NEWS: SADAKO Vs KAYAKO UNLEASHED ON JAPANESE DVD & BLU-RAY

If we're being totally honest, TwistedWing hasn't enjoyed a Ringu movie since the original trilogy, and we haven't enjoyed a Ju-on movie since part two arrived back in 2003. Add to that the fact that face/off movies rarely live up to expectations and we really shouldn't be looking forward to this as much as we are. However, the trailer does look kind of impressive and Shiraishi Koji is more than capable of drumming up a few scares.

The two most iconic franchises of J-Horror – Ring and Ju-on: The Grudge – cross over in the 2016 horror Sadako vs. Kayako. Directed by horror-meister Shiraishi Koji (Grotesque), the film pits the two legendary vengeful long-haired ghosts, Ring's Sadako and Ju-on's Kayako, against each other in an epic battle of scares. Sadako Vs Kayako is released on Japanese DVD and Blu-ray on December 2, we will keep you updated on an English subtitled release. For now though, wallow in the nostalgia of the Japanese trailer below.

Synopsis: Friends Yuri (Yamamoto Mizuki, The Kirishima Thing) and Natsumi (Satsukawa Aimi, Hime-Anole) purchase a second-hand VHS player, but find that there is already a video cassette inside. Natsumi watches the old VHS, which turns out to be none other than the notorious Sadako tape. Yuri tries everything she can to save Natsumi, going as far as to watch the tape herself, but her efforts are to no avail.

Psychic Tokiwa (Ando Masanobu) tells her that the only way to beat Sadako is with another powerful ghost. Elsewhere in town, high school girl Suzuka (Tamashiro Tina, Wolf Girl and Black Prince) has recently moved into the neighborhood of the infamous haunted house of Kayako and her son Toshi. Suzuka enters the house, but manages to escape with Tokiwa's help. At Tokiwa's suggestion, the two cursed girls decide to team up and draw out Sadako and Kayako to fight each other.
